Life

The state of being alive.  Life can be referred to in three contexts: (1) Physical - the interval of time between birth and physical death  (Ps 23:4).  (2) Spiritual -  possessing salvation, but still living on earth, not yet in heaven (Eph 2:1).  (3) Eternal - see Eternal Life.

Lord's Supper, the

The sacrament instituted by Jesus during the Passover meal prior to His death in which bread (representing His body) and wine (representing His blood) are shared commemorating His suffering and death in our stead (Matt 26:26-29).  It is to be taken only by believers and replaces the Passover meal of the old covenant.
